Groomsman: Matthew Chiu

Pastor Chiu. Chapter Chiu. Outside of my brother, Matt is my oldest friend. From speaking to each other in Cantonese (because I wanted it to be our own secret language) near the big tree at Noddin Elementary School, to making CBCSJ our personal playground, to our countless sleepovers and Street Fighter battles, to hiding next to your sofa when my mom would come pick us up only to find that our hiding spot was the graveyard for all of Daniel’s boogers, to watching you graduate high school and college, (couldn’t be there for seminary grad, my bad), we have been through a lot together.

It’s a bit sad that I haven’t been around as much for Matt’s formative years going through the crucible that is seminary, but it’s been an absolute joy and amazement to see from the outside looking in how God has grown and matured him as a leader. Matt is one of the few people I know who I am confident I could share anything and say anything to him, and it’d be impossible for him not to react in a loving and understanding way. I’ve seen first hand how Matthew is one of the most loyal, earnest, and kindest persons you will ever meet, and he certainly has been all those things to me in all the years we’ve known each other.
